Trillium Natural Medicine brings new healthcare options, services to Pittsburgh area

With the opening of Trillium Natural Medicine in Dormont, Pittsburghers have new options in health care and wellness.

Located at 3043 West Liberty Ave., the 1,000 square-foot practice features treatment and consultation rooms where Dr. Maureen Tighe offers naturopathic medicine consultations, acupuncture, cleanse programs, and natural fertility services.

After earning a Doctorate in Oriental Medicine at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, Tighe returned home to Pittsburgh. “I was fortunate to find a true gem of a space in Dormont and saw that I could create a medical practice in a sanctuary-type setting, which is what I’ve always envisioned,” says Tighe, a Mt. Lebanon native whose father is from Dormont.

Tighe relocated from a city with 500 naturopathic doctors to a city with only six where she is the only ND who offers acupuncture. “People in Pittsburgh are very supportive of the natural approach to health. It’s exciting to return with a skill set that is unique in this area,” says Tighe.

Trillium is located within a beautifully restored property owned by Mark Johnson, who ran the Daguerreian Gallery. Tighe worked with Mt. Lebanon-based designer Chrissy Senko to decorate and furnish the center. In the practice’s busy first month, Tighe has treated patients from as far away as Gibsonia and Latrobe.
