Construction has begun on Settlers Ridge, a new 600,000-square-foot mixed-use development located off the Parkway West’s Settler’s Cabin Exit in Robinson Twp. Situated on 79 acres of formerly strip-mined property, the $120 million project will feature a 150,000-square-foot Giant Eagle Market District,
REI, and a P.F. Chang’s China Bistro.
Set to open during the summer of 2009, the site will also include a Courtyard by Marriott hotel, 16-screen Cinemark Theatre and L.A. Fitness. Announcements regarding additional restaurants and specialty stores will be made in the next few months.
“The location is fantastic—it has phenomenal visibility. It’s a growth area, and has the built-in infrastructure and interchange right there, which will minimize the impact on traffic,” says Katie Reinsmidt, with
CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., who is co-developing the project with
Faison Enterprises, Inc. “We have a great lineup of stores and entertainment.”
The project is seeking $10 million from the state’s infrastructure and facilities improvement program to support parking, sidewalks, roadway improvements, and storm sewer water lines. “This will be the first Giant Eagle Market District in the region designed and built from the ground up,” says Kevin Evanto, with
Allegheny County. “They're moving forward with everything right now. With the interchange open, you’ll come right off the exit there.”
Also planned for Robinson Twp. is a 30,000 square-foot Class-A
professional building that will accommodate as many as six office suites, with floor plans ranging from 3,000 to 10,700 square feet.
