Two cool events will take place in Pittsburgh in the coming week.
The Pittsburgh Chapter of TiE, an international organization fostering business development and entrepreneurial mentoring, hosts “Emerging Opportunities in Life Sciences and Health Care” on November 27th. The event will take place at the Sheraton Four Points North, Cranberry, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
John Manzetti, CEO of Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse and Baiju Shah, president of BioEnterprise in Cleveland, will provide opening presentations and join a panel discussion with Pete DeComo, CEO of Renal Solutions, Jay Srini, VP of Emerging Technologies, UPMC, and Mike Butler, district director for PA Congressman, Jason Altmire. The discussion will shed insight on the formation of a Cleveland-Pittsburgh “Tech Corridor” and the entrepreneurial opportunities within the life sciences and healthcare industries that may be generated.
The event is free for TiE members, $10 for students and $25 for everyone else. To register, click here.
In another event, The Pittsburgh Chapter of the International Game Developer’s Association (PIGDA) and CyberConXion have joined forces for a unique charity auction and gaming tournament to help provide Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with video games and equipment.
Gamers Give Back will be held Dec. 1st from 5 to 8 p.m. at CyberConXion in Squirrel Hill. A $10 donation will include a special gift and participation in one of the three tournaments, Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3 and Unreal Tournament 3. Prizes will be awarded!
All proceeds will be used to buy new games and consoles from the CHP wish list. PIGDA will also accept used games or consoles for an on-site charity auction.
