Industry Weapon's Talkin' Smack helps blast the Gridiron Bash

The Gridiron Bash, the football craziness that erupts each spring on college campuses nationwide, is getting a boost on the mayhem this year with the help of Pittsburgh-based Industry Weapon.

A content deployment and management company, IW has partnered with CW Multimedia of Louisville, KY, to build, deploy and manage a unique Internet merchandising program for the Gridiron Bash, a weekend pep rally, football scrimmage and concert that takes place simultaneously at 20 of the nation’s top Division I schools.

“It’s a new kind of social networking experience,” explains David Wible, CEO. “What makes this unique for us is they’re using a whole plethora of our solutions. The Gridiron Bash site was our design and it gives us the ability to showcase our content management system.”

IW’s Content Commerce Platform enables users to send and receive data from multiple consumer touchpoints such as mobile phones, social networking websites, e-commerce engines and brick and mortar point of sales systems. Visitors to the site can watch videos, buy tickets and merchandise, vote or post comments, a blogging frenzy called Talkin’ Smack.

“It’s a new methodology that gets into niche communities where users can celebrate what they’re passionate about,” Wible says. “Since the IW Gridiron Bash site has been posted, the stickiness has increased from 40 seconds to 3 minutes. People keep coming back and we’re doing three times the amount of traffic. It has just been nuts.”

The Gridiron Bash takes place at college football stadiums around the country on April 18th. The event includes live concerts with nationally known artists including Fergie, Good Charlotte, O.A.R. and ZZ Top.
