CEO for Cities held a salon this week on the weighty subject of Talent Attraction for Pittsburgh.
The network for urban leaders is
touring the country, generating a nationwide discussion on
the need for strategies to encourage more people to gain a post-secondary
education, one of the biggest predictors of success for cities and
metro areas.
The salon was held in partnership with the Lumina Foundation for Education and moderated by Carol Coletta, president and CEO and producer of the nationally syndicated public radio show Smart City.
"We’re talking about the most important economic development issue of our time and how the city can realize a $1.8 billion Talent Dividend each
year simply by increasing the number of people with a four-year degree by one percentage point," says Coletta. "It’s critical, it’s doable and it pays big."
The more educated the Pittsburgh metro area
population, the more robust our economy will be, Coletta says.
