Don't know the difference between a cab and a merlot? Not sure which wine goes best with talapia, steak or pasta? Never fear, because there are still two event-packed days left at one of the country's top wine
festivals, which is enlightening and entertaining crowds around town.
You'll sip, sniff, swirl, and swish along with some of the
world’s finest wine makers, wine educators and chefs at the
2008 Pittsburgh Wine Festival. An impressive array of seminars, tastings and wine dinners in area restaurants and private homes will convey all things vino to oenophiles and amateurs alike.
On
May 7 at 6 p.m., learn "How to Drink Like a Millionaire on a Beer Budget"
at
Tambellini Ristorante, where you’ll get the inside scoop on restaurateur and industry faves that can
all be found on a budget. Call it bargain wines for a priceless palate.
The sixth annual festival culminates on Thursday, May 8, with a
VIP and Grand Tasting Main Event at
Heinz Field's East and West Club Lounges on
Pittsburgh's North Shore, where 500 wines from 200 of the world's finest wineries will be featured.
The Heinz Field affair will also feature a silent auction benefiting the
University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, on-site
Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board stores with Chairman's Selections, exhibits, and a café.
