20 films, 4 venues, a red carpet gala, and stories from around the
globe promise to make this year's
Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival one of May's must-see events.
Now in its third dazzling year, Silk Screen is a multiple-day cinematic event showcasing the cultural heritage of Asia via dozens of independent feature films made by Asians and Asian-Americans. Venues for the May 91-8 screenings include the The Regent Square and Harris Theaters, Melwood Screening Room, and The Andy Warhol Museum. New to this festival this year is the screening of an Anime feature.
The 2008 festival lineup features numerous award-winning titles, special presentations and Q&A sessions with directors, including films from Singapore, Turkey, India, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand. Showcasing films that transcend political and cultural boundaries, this unique Pittsburgh-produced festival brings universal stories from around the globe to the big screen. All films are feature length.
The festival kicks off with its much-anticipated Silk Screen Red Carpet
Gala on May 9. The lively party gets started at 8 p.m. at 121 Seventh
Street Downtown. For tickets, go
