If you're looking to
shop for a cause this holiday season,
head to Pittsburgh's only nonprofit fair trade retail store. Working
with 130 artisan groups in 38 countries, Ten Thousand Villages carries
everything from woven rattan stools to olive wood coasters. Staffed
by volunteers, the shop also hosts community outreach events. One of
the world's first fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages works
to ensure that artisans in developing countries earn fair wages. We can
think of no better way to end the decade than by shopping with a
conscience.
