The Senator John Heinz History Center is your one-stop shop for exploring 250 years of Pittsburgh history. From the pre-revolutionary drama of the French & Indian War to the city's legendary six-time Super Bowl winners, the interactive museum presents captivating stories from American history with a Western Pennsylvania twist.

The 275,000-square-foot green museum features six expansive floors of long-term and rotating exhibitions, including the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, a dynamic museum-within-a-museum, and the Library & Archives, an extensive scholarly resource documenting 250 years of life in Western Pennsylvania. An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the History Center is Pennsylvania largest history museum.

Any visit to the History Center is not complete without a visit to the museum's fabulous gift shop, which sells everything from historical toys, cookbooks and cards, to maps, stocking stuffers and scholarly materials, as well as its retro cafe and trolley car in the lobby.

This summer, make it a stay-cation with an array of engaging programs and events planned for families, adults and children at the History Center, as well as at the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum and Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Museum of Rural Life.
