Pittsburgh had 24 health care startups receiving capital in 2009--the largest number in the Midwest, reports
Pittsburgh Business Times. The combined dollar amount was $37.8 million.
Investments in Midwest health care startups last year totaled $780 million, down 26 percent from 2008, according to a report released by BioEnterprise, a Cleveland-based biomedical venture developer.
Minneapolis led the region in terms of dollars invested, $199 million, followed by Cincinnati at $121.2 million.
