From grime to glam: Posh Pittsburgh neighborhoods

CNN highlights Pittsburgh by focusing on some of our neighborhoods that offer "great shopping and even better dining."

The article recommends exploring the formerly seedy, now-hot Lawrenceville for locally owned boutiques (including Sugar) and eateries (they suggest trying to the lasagna at BYOB Piccolo Forno; we suggest the wood-fired pizza preceded by a margarita at the Round Corner Cantina just across the street). The Strip District gets called out as a foodie destination--there's java at 21st Street Coffee and Tea (a Pop City favorite) and sweet treats at Enrico Biscotti Company.

The article also recommends fashionistas pop into e.b. Pepper and Moda on Shadyside's Walnut Street, and refuel in Squirrel Hill with Thai at Bangkok Balcony and cupcakes at Dozen.

And though Sewickley's not quite a city neighborhood, the borough--11 miles northwest of the city--makes an appearance, thanks to its unique boutiques and the affordably chic food at the Sewickley Cafe.

The article also guides readers to a CNN video that chronicles Pittsburgh's progression from a depressed steel town to the revitalized host of the G-20 global summit.
