With charitable giving in the U.S. on the rise, Wexford-based TowerCare’s software for non-profit management and fundraising is in demand.

Founded in Pittsburgh in 2002, TowerCare will double in size this year, increasing its staff of 16 to upward of 40 by the end of the year with the addition of sales, implementation, customer support and software development hires. In November the company moved from a 1,600 square foot space to a 7,500 square foot space, which will provide room for growth, says Donna Myers, president.

“It’s good news for an industry that continues to grow year after year despite what happens in the economy,” says Myers. “This is an area that has seen six to seven percent growth each year.”

TowerCare’s flagship product, DonorPro, helps nonprofits to track its constituents including prospects, donors, volunteers and employees. By targeting small to mid-size non-profits, many of whom use Excel or do their tabulations by hand, TowerCare has helped groups achieve double digit increases in donations while improving operating efficiency.

“This helps them manage all aspects of their non-profit inventory,” says Myers. “We can help them develop and design a website and a content management tool so they don’t have to hire professionals to do it for them. If someone comes on their website and does an online donation, it is translated by the software.”

Towercare has just over 100 clients across the U.S. As it expands, the company hopes to extend its business to the 81,000 organizations with $1 million to $25 million in annual operating funds, a segment of the market that has been underserved to date, says Myers.
