Sim Ops Studios is preparing to launch yet another innovative tool for game developers, Pocket Change, a YouTube-like website that allows developers to sell their games through their own sites and make money too.

"When you're small, time matters and you're burning your own money," says Shanna Tellerman, CEO. "Players will be able to play the games on these sites and also purchase Pocket Change and spend money in the games from these other sites. Our site will be a central bank site that they can always go back to check on and manage their Pocket Change account."

It will also help developers to find players and communities that like the game, she adds.

The site will launch in the next several weeks. Sim Ops will collect a small percentage from each sale. We don't make money until developers do, Tellerman adds. An expanded version of Pocket Change, a larger marketplace for game tools and applications, is planned for next year.

Wild Pockets is also gearing up to host the second annual PA Game Jam, expanding the event to take place simultaneously in two PA locations on Oct. 3 and 4th. Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center will host one and Harrisburg University of Science and Technology will hold the other.

The 24-hour event is open to game developers of all skill levels, backgrounds and disciplines, limited to the first 200 registrants. Participants have 24 hours in the Wild Pockets game engine to create their own games.

"I have been blown away by the quality and creativity of the games created during these jams," Tellerman adds. "With the Wild Pockets transaction system, developers will have an opportunity to continue evolving and monetizing their games."
