They call me Rex, but you can call me Monstrous Killer Death Lizard.
Perhaps you’ve seen me, driven past me or maybe you are the one who stuck the Wall Street Journal in my mouth the other morning while I slept? Despite my age (sixty
cough million), I’m the dapper, young T-Rex emerging from the front of The Art Institute.
And being cool and from Pittsburgh, I am now a blogger. Visit me online and keep up with me if you can, that is, if you can run fast enough to catch me at the Pittsburgh Marathon this weekend! Despite that someone stole my running shoes, I’m still doing 26 miles in an hour. RAWR! Give ‘em back!
Rex came springing from a virtual Jurassic background at
The Art Institute along Blvd. of Allies back in June of 2003 according to Rex’s pal, Norman Huelsman, assistant director of public relations. He emerged during the city’s
DinoMite Days, a public art project to raise money for the city’s world-class dinosaur collection.
He loves people, parades, parties and the Penguins and considers himself the King of the Steelers Nation. He dresses for the holidays and most Pittsburgh happenings, like the marathon until someone took his tennies. And now he loves to blog.
“His personality has emerged over time and he has demanded his own Web site,” says Huelsman. “It’s fun, entertaining and a way for the Art Institute to engage with the community.”
