The region’s premier event for healthy eating and living, the 3rd Annual
Farm to Table Conference, is the perfect place to connect with the abundance of products grown and produced right in our backyard.
“We’re the only metropolitan area that could support itself on local food,” says Erin Hart, coordinator for the conference. “Farmers would make more money if the food they grew were bought locally. We need to support our farms here.”
This year’s conference will continue to connect the region with its farmers by offering a 2-day event on Friday and Saturday April 3rd and 4th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The popular Farmer’s Market will be back along with a cornucopia of food tastings, live cooking demonstrations, exhibitions and healthy eating events.
Keynote speaker Dr. Devra Davis, director of the world’s first
Center for Environmental Oncology at the
University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, and author of “The Secret History of the War on Cancer” will speak. Other local experts will address topics from eating local through the seasons.
This year’s conference offers a commemorative poster created from photo submissions of local farms by local photographers. “Farms of Western Pennsylvania” is on sale and 25 percent of all proceeds go directly to the
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Tickets are $25. The event will be held at the
David L. Lawrence Convention Center’s South Terrace which includes a grassy area for the market. The event is sponsored by the
American Healthcare Group,
Giant Eagle and
Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
