The 3 Rivers Venture Fair, the anticipated showcase that draws prominent venture capitalists and breakthrough technology to the region each year, comes to PNC Park on Sept. 15-16.

This year 30 companies were selected through a rigorous selection process, many from Pennsylvania and Ohio, a list that includes more life science companies than IT for the first time ever. More than 500 venture capitalists, private investors, investment bankers and business leaders are expected to peruse the show and wide ranging technologies for the hottest emerging markets and cutting-edge innovation.

The fair has drawn a record number of sponsors this year. Forbes Media CEO Steve Forbes will be the keynote speaker.

"The 3 Rivers Venture Fair brings together the most innovative entrepreneurs in the life sciences and technology fields from 10 states and beyond with some of the nation's leading investors," says John Manzetti, co-chair and president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse. "The 3RVF consistently screens and selects an extraordinary group of presenting companies--making our event one of the country's most well-respected and attended investor gatherings."

Since its founding in 2002, the 3RVF has helped participating ventures raise more than $292 million in investment capital.

Following the fair, the University of Pittsburgh's Office of Technology Management and Carnegie Mellon University will cosponsor a showcase of emerging university technologies. Startup companies of the future will be on hand during "On Deck Circle," poster presentations of 30 cutting-edge technologies developed at Pitt, Carnegie Mellon, Ohio University, Case Western Reserve University, Penn State, and West Virginia University.
