Forget everything you knew about extreme sports, because for four straight days, the parks and plazas, streets and sites of the city will be transformed into a high-octane playground for one of the world;s most unique athletic events. Pogo-pa-what? From August 19 to 22, the top pogo globe trotters hailing from the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.will converge in the 'burgh for an athletic extravaganza unlike anything this city has seen.
Prepare to be astounded as jumpers clear heights of 8 feet, perform high-flying flips and execute mind-blowing stunts. During the first three days of action, pogo experts will lead a city-wide "performance tour," stopping at Carnegie Mellon University, Point State Park, Carnegie Science Center, and even in scenic Mt. Washington. On August 22, Schenley Plaza will turn into
Pogopalooza central, where cut-throat competitors will vie for world record titles. Don't miss the chance to catch performances by established national pogo crews and pogo newbies alike, who will compete for prizes, perfect their stunts and flaunt their skills.
Test your mettle on a plethora of pogo sticks—both old school and extreme—and peruse the latest in pogo goods and wares from across the country. Event highlights include performances by the hilarious and talented Pogo Dudes trio, action packed film screenings, and a hands-on "Science of Pogo" exhibition at Carnegie Science Center. Don't miss the chance to see daring pogo masters perform against the scenic backdrop of Pittsburgh's stunning Golden Triangle.
