Wednesday, February 24, 2010
This Thurs. Feb. 25, walk the red carpet burgh-style, when homegrown media arts center Pittsburgh
Filmmakers and the
Cleveland International Film Festival
(CIFF) team up to present a special double-feature
"Oscar-Nominated Shorts" program, along with a free lively reception.
Taking place at Regent Square Theater, the event will include five
live-action and five animated short films. Featured works, nominated
for Academy Awards on Feb. 2, include "Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping
Beauty," "A Matter of Loaf and Death," "Instead of Abracadabra," and
"Miracle Fish."
In between screenings, mingle with local and regional film fans, nosh
on free drinks and desserts, and vie for coveted prizes like all-access
CIFF passes and an overnight hotel stay in "The Cleve." Party-goers
will also get a sneak preview of this year's impressive roster of CIFF
films, and will leave with their very own hot-off-the-presses program
guide.
For those hoping to make the trek, the 34th annual Cleveland International Film Festival runs March 18-28, 2010. Ohio's premier film event, CIFF was founded in 1977 and features more than 240 films originating from some 60 countries. Drawing more than 66,000 film-goers, the festival also features visiting filmmakers, panel discussions, and student screenings.
