So what do the The Foggy Mountain Boys have to do with Sierra Hull? And
where can you hear high-octane harmonies, top-notch banjo chops, and
sassy grooves all on one stage? In town for one night only at
Downtown's pristine
Byham Theater,
the nationally acclaimed American Revival concert combines authentic
bluegrass, folk country and roots music with some of the most gifted
performers drawing from these these American genres today.
Known
for captivating fans from Colorado's Telluride Bluegrass Festival to
North Carolina's Merlefest (read: a lively tribute to Doc and Merle
Watson held annually at Wilkes Community College), American Revival is
for old-timers and roots rookies alike.
Named 2008 Bluegrass
Artist of the Year by The Roots Music Association, The Dixie Bee-Liners
will takes listener into the cars, cities, trucks and towns that
populate America's highways and byways, with songs from their latest
19-song release,
Susanville,
Considered
a rising star within the country's newest crop of bluegrass musicians,
Sierra Hull first mastered the mandolin at age eight, and boasts vox
and chops that have been compared to Allison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent.
Dubbed the "fret wizard from central Tennesse," the talented teen just
received a Presidential Award Scholarship from the prestigious Berklee
College of Music.
Last but not least, leading the resurrection
of old-time music, is the all-women strong Uncle Earl. Formed in 2000
by KC Groves and Jo Serrapere, the "g'Earls" have released five
records, including 2007's Waterloo, Tennessee, which was produced by
Led Zeppelin bassist, John Paul Jones.
