New regional hotel and office developments were announced at the
Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce's Hot Topic Summit on May 9.
At the forum, Moon Township-based
DiCicco Development, Inc. unveiled its plans to bring two Hilton hotels, commerce park properties and professional office space to the airport corridor.
Now under development is the 50-acre Cherrington Commerce Park, which currently features three available pad-ready sites. Also planned for the 600,000-square-foot commerce park—which is located on Cherrington Parkway near the Parkway West’s Thorn Run interchange and Ewing Rd.—is a variety of multi- and single-story Class A office and flex properties, which are currently being designed.
“There will be different configurations. It’s a huge project and will continue for four to five years, depending on the demand,” says developer Sam DiCicco, Jr. “The location is superb. It’s within the heart of the Moon Township business park zoning, and the strongest office market. The US Airways operations center is under construction there, and it’s adjacent to amenities and hotels.”
DiCicco is also developing a 128-room Hilton Garden Inn and a 100-room Hilton Homewood Suites, located off the Parkway’s Montour Run exit adjacent to the FedEx Ground headquarters. “The need is clearly there for new high quality state of the art facilities,” adds DiCicco, who says construction on the hotels is expected to begin during fall 2009. “The airport corridor market is very strong.”
Also planned is a four-story 104,000-square-foot Class A professional office building, which will be located adjacent to the Hilton hotels.
