Three Wood St. properties targeted for redevelopment downtown

Three downtown properties acquired by the URA have been slated for redevelopment. Located near the Fifth-Forbes corridor at 430-432, 434 and 436-438 Wood St., the two- and three-story properties range in size from 3,240 to 5,760 square feet.

“It’s a nice little assemblage, especially for small developers and small businesses who might want to buy one, two or all of them,” says Jerome Dettore, executive director of the URA. “We’ve been in the mode of assembling as large of a area downtown as we can for development sites."

During the early part of March, the URA will issue an RFP to developers, who will have approximately six weeks to respond with proposals for the three Wood St. sites. The URA board approved the action plan during its Feb. 15th meeting.

Built in the late 1940s, the properties were acquired by the URA in various stages within the past six years. Woodland Jewelers currently occupies a space in 434 Wood St.; a Pizza Hut was previously housed at 430-432 Wood St. The 434-436 Wood St. property underwent extensive renovations in 1988.
