Most Wanted Fine Art under construction on Penn Avenue

Artist Jason Sauer is currently renovating a property located at 5015 Penn Avenue. The three-story, 2,100-square-foot building will include a first-floor, 700 square-foot gallery called Most Wanted Fine Art, and a two-story, 1,800 square-foot live/work studio.

Sauer, who purchased the property from the Penn Avenue Arts Initiative (PAAI) in May, hopes to occupy the building as soon as possible.

With a $5,000 façade grant from the PAAI, Sauer is installing 8-foot carriage doors that will allow him to create his signature sculptures from reconstructed demolition derby cars.

“It’s my dream come true,” says Sauer, who relocated to Pittsburgh from Texas in 2004. “Pittsburgh has been generous and respectful.”

A Bloomfield resident, Sauer cites PAAI’s popular Unblurred series as an opportunity “to be part of an advertising schedule and introduce myself to the neighborhood.”

Sauer, who recently petitioned City Council to lobby for additional funding for Penn Avenue infrastructure improvements, is currently exhibiting work at Moxie DaDA Gallery.
