A regional company specializing in 80s-style t-shirts (think Transformers, Star Wars and Care Bears!) is tripling its size with a new headquarters in
Westmoreland Technology Park.
Founded in 2000 by Westmoreland County native Kevin Stecko,
80sTees.com bought a 45,000-square-foot light industrial building located at 230 Westech Dr. in Mt. Pleasant. The new location will provide much-needed dock facilities and house warehouse, office and customer service operations. The Internet-based company will relocate from North Huntingdon to Westmoreland Technology Park in August.
“Our current space is too small. Our search for a new location evolved as the company has grown. We’ll continue to hire—there’s no doubt about that,” says Stecko, 31. “We’re going to do some things on our own that we’ve been outsourcing, and bring in automation equipment.”
The building’s design will help 80sTees.com attain greater efficiency.“We’ll save on utilities in the long run. It has in-floor heating, skylights and efficient cooling," says Stecko.
Currently hiring, 80sTees.com employs 15 full-time and 10 part-time people—some as young as 18. “When we list a job, we pretty much get all young people applying,” adds Stecko, whose oldest employee is in fact his mother. Shipping products all over the globe, 80sTees.com was just selected by the Pittsburgh Business Times as one of the region’s fastest-growing companies.
Accessible via Rte. 119, Westmorland Technology Park also houses
Penn State Tool and Dye. John Bilyak and Jeffrey Adams with
NAI Pittsburgh Commercial, represented the seller,
Matamatic, Inc., in the transaction.
