Pittsburgh’s favorite specialty beer spot has added a fourth location to its roster.
The Sharp Edge Brasserie—part of the popular pub family that includes the Emporium in Friendship, the Creekhouse in Crafton and the Bistro in Sewickley—will serve its first thirsty patrons on May 12.
After noticing a large number of South Hills-area addresses in his database, Sharp Edge owner Jeffrey Walewski— who’s been knighted by the Belgian government for his work promoting the nation’s beverage of choice—decided to pursue a Peter Township location. Located at 102 Gallery Dr. in McMurray, the new 6,000-square-foot restaurant features indoor seating for 200 and outdoor seating for 32.
“I do monthly newsletters. We have a large base coming from Bethel Park and Peters,” says Walewski, who worked with Advanced Construction Services on the Brasserie. “I believe it can support it out here. We’re only the twenty-fourth liquor license going into Peters.”
Located four miles from
South Hills Village in Peters Town Center, the Brasserie is Walewski’s largest restaurant to date. Boasting the most extensive Sharp Edge beer selection, the Brasserie carries 55 drafts and 400 bottles, and features a Spaten-themed room and a section dedicated to Pennsylvania Breweries. Specialties include Oktoberfest platters, Belgian croquettes and gourmet pizzas. The non-smoking establishment also features a six pack store and beer bottle-themed murals.
With numerous “Best Belgian Beer in the U.S.” accolades, the Sharp Edge draws beer lovers from throughout the tri-state region. “We get people from D.C. and out of state,” adds Walewski, who hired 38 people to work in the Brasserie.
