Pennsylvania’s second
Tanger Factory Outlet Center is under construction in
Washington County. Located 30 miles south of Pittsburgh along I-79, the $90 million, 308,000 square-foot outlet center is an anchor tenant for the Victory Centre Development.
“The location right on I-79 is really important. There’s a tremendous amount of growth that this is going to be a part of,” says Michael Buescher with Tanger. “The topography of the area will be taken into consideration as far as the landscaping. It’s going to be really unique because of its elevation.”
Among the 75 outlets set to open in the center are Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers and Timberland. The center will also house home décor and accessory shops. “We’ll announce more stores as leases are signed. There will be room to expand,” says Buescher. The center, which is being designed by Adams and Associates, will feature colonial-style architecture, skylights and landscaped courtyards.
The outlet center is expected to draw 4.5 million annual shoppers from a multi-state region, and create more than 800 retail management jobs. “One of our best centers is in Lancaster. It’s one of the state’s top destinations. We’re confident that this new center will be as successful,” adds Buescher, who says that additional outlets will include Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, and Skechers. The center is slated to open during the summer of 2008.
Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, Tanger operates 34 centers in 23 states. Tanger, which raises money for schools and breast cancer research, recently donated $1,500 to
Trinity High School in Washington County.
