
On October 20,
The Allegheny Conference on Community Development and
Pittsburgh Technology Council will present
Energy Summit 2006: Generating Ideas for Southwestern Pennsylvania at the Convention Center downtown.
The summit will bring together regional business leaders and investors to discuss competitive challenges related to energy costs and regulation, strategies and solutions for facing them, and opportunities for alternative energies currently being developed in southwestern PA.
Participants will learn strategies for addressing regional energy issues and tapping into alternative solutions.
John Surma, CEO of
United States Steel Corporation, will kick off the summit and Spencer Abraham, CEO of the
Abraham Group and former U.S. Secretary of Energy, will deliver the keynote address.
Featured speakers include Daniel Desmond of the
PA Department of Environmental Protection and
U.S. Representative Melissa Hart.
A panel discussion entitled
Generating Solutions to Regional Energy Challenges will focus on the impact of energy costs while a second session,
Generating Regional Energy Opportunities, will address how businesses and organizations can effectively harness alternative energies.
