"Not too small, not too big," is how CEO Sushil C. Jain describes Pittsburgh, but Empyrean Services LLC is anything but small. This past year it was one of the top 500 fastest growing companies in the country according to Inc magazine
The technical consulting company for the nuclear industry started in 2000, as Jain had gained valuable experience from his senior vice president position at Duquesne Light. With 32 years in the business, the company has many success stories, says Jain.
"Basically our focus on customer service, attempting for good quality, building on our past performance--and a keen focus on our own employees to make sure they are happy--has been very fruitful for us," says Jain.
Empyrean has about 85 employees currently and posted an impressive 1,225% growth in revenue. Jain attributes that rise to the people in his company that know the industry "inside and out."
Based in Sewickley, Empyrean also has offices in Ontario, Atlanta and Houston. Despite the fact that they are centered in the Steel City and enjoy the qualified work force it has to offer, they have not worked with any companies here, something Jain hopes to change in the coming year.
"We didn't start looking out for other client bases until last year, and didn't have an active sales effort. Starting this year we will be putting energy into that, and growing our client base here in Pittsburgh and beyond Pittsburgh," says Jain.
