Compunetix, Inc. is a company with great timing. The electronics assembly company, based in Monroeville, has prospered from its teleconferencing technology.

Gerard Pompa, who runs the Communications Systems Division, explains their niche in the industry.

"We are one of the leading producers of audio conferencing…companies now don't (necessarily) have to travel to meetings," he says.

Pompa reveals that when most businesses were cutting back, Compunetix was thriving. More companies were resorting to their phone and data conferencing which in turn brought more and more business.

They have the numbers to back it up as well. One of the fastest growing companies in the region, they currently employ 331 full-time. Their numbers back this up as well, with an increase in revenue from $44.5 million in 2006 to their current $73.5 million in 2010.

Founded over 40 years ago by Giorgio Coraluppi, the company is thankful for many aspects of Pittsburgh including an affordable cost of living and quality of life for employees (whom Pompa calls the best guys in the world) and a strong recruiting crop of students from neighboring universities of Carnegie Mellon, Pitt and Duquesne.

The future is looking bright for Compunetix as more and more clients embrace the future of conferencing technology. With more potential products in the works and continued horizontal growth, Compunetix is one of many proud Pittsburgh companies.
